Exploring Dirang, Shergaon and Zemithang
Dirang offers a scenic valley setting and serves as a natural transition point into the higher-altitude regions of Tawang. Shergaon provides a quieter and less commercialized experience, known for its landscapes and village atmosphere. Zemithang, located near the Indo-China border, adds a remote and culturally distinct dimension to the tour. Together, these destinations expand the Tawang experience beyond its most visited locations.
How This Tour Differs from the Standard Tawang Itinerary
Unlike shorter Tawang tours that focus on covering key highlights within limited time, this extended itinerary prioritizes depth and comfort. Travel days are shorter, sightseeing is more evenly distributed and additional regions are included to provide context and variety. This makes the tour ideal for travelers who prefer a slower pace and a more immersive experience.
In addition, this tour covers the beautiful villages of Shergaon, Dirang and Zemithang. You can spend more peaceful time with nature and enjoy the unmatched beauty of these villages.
Can Kaziranga be visited along with Tawang?
Yes, Kaziranga can be visited along with Tawang. However, you would need to extend your tour by one extra day. You can get in touch with us for the same.
Scenic and Cultural Experiences Along the Route
The extended route offers a mix of mountain landscapes, river valleys and cultural encounters across different regions. Travelers experience changing scenery as the journey progresses, along with opportunities to observe local lifestyles and traditions. The variety of landscapes adds visual richness and depth to the overall travel experience.
Who Should Choose the Extended Tawang Tour
This tour is ideal for travelers flying in from other parts of India, those planning a longer holiday and travelers who want to explore Arunachal Pradesh in a more comprehensive manner. It suits couples, families and small groups who are comfortable with longer itineraries and value depth over speed. Travelers with limited time may prefer a shorter Tawang tour.
Please note that it takes two days (with a transit stop in between) to reach Tawang from Guwahati. And when you are travelling such a long distance, it is good to cover and enjoy the region well.
Best Time to Take the Extended Tawang Tour
The best time to take this extended Tawang tour is generally during seasons when road conditions support travel to remote regions such as Zemithang and Shergaon. Seasonal planning plays an important role in ensuring smooth travel, and itineraries are adjusted accordingly to maintain comfort and safety.
It is good to avoid this tour during monsoon (June to mid-September), as the road conditions worsen during rains.
Important Information For Extended Tawang Tour
Tawang is an offbeat tour. It is not a regular tourist destination. Hence you may not get all the comforts that you are typically used to at other tourist locations
Homestays / hotels will be basic but will be neat and clean. There are very minimal homestays, and even lesser good ones. So there is not much of a choice for better homestays. However, you will be amazed by the friendly nature of the hosts.
As there are very few places to stay, the hotels / homestays get full very quickly. If you are planning for a peak season, plan early to get hotel bookings.
If you want to visit Kaziranga also, you need to extend the tour by one more day. Please contact us for the same
