Itinerary Meghalaya Tour Package
Day 1: Guwahati – Cherrapunji/Sohra (165 km – 5 hours)
The tour begins today by picking you up from hotel/airport/railway station. Our first stop is going to be at Umium Lake, one of the largest artificial lakes in this region. The lake was primarily built for water storage and power generation. For visitors, there are few activities like boating, kayaking etc. to keep them busy. Our next stop is Elephant Falls, a little ahead of state capital Shillong. Later, we drive to Cherrapunji, check-in to hotel and relax.
Day 2: Cherrapunji Sightseeing
Cherrapunji has a lot to offer for visitors. We start early today to visit Mawsmai Caves, Seven Sisters Waterfalls (only during monsoon), Thangkharang Park. If time permits, we will also visit Eco Park before heading back to Cherrapunji for lunch. After quick lunch, we will go to Arwah Caves, Nohkalikai Falls View Point, Wei Sawdong Falls, and Dainthlen Falls. Later we will go back to hotel and relax.
Day 3: Trek to Double Decker Root Bridge
An adventurous day begins. We start our day early to drive till Tyrna village. The steep descend to Nongriat village starts here, and it takes about 2-2.5 hours to go down the 3500 steps. Spend some time at the Double Decker Root Bridge, and if interested, take a dip at the pool next to the bridge. Later, we continue our trek to Rainbow Falls, which would take another 2 hours. We should reach here before 12 noon to see the rainbow over the falls. On our way back, we stop at Blue Lagoon, to witness the bluest waters in the region, true to its name! We then come back to Nongriat Village.
Here, we have two options:
- Trek back 3500 steps to reach Tyrna, and get back to hotel at Cherrapunji, OR, if it is hectic for you,
- Stay at Nongriat, and trek to Tyrna the next day
Day 4: Cherrapunji – Mawlynnong – Dawki
Today, we will start by paying a visit to Garden of Caves (This will be skipped if you will be staying at Nongriat the previous day). Later, go to the cleanest village in Asia, Mawlynnong. Walk along the cleanest lanes of the village, talk to locals, have some great food. You can also go to a view point to get the first glimpses of Bangladesh from here. Later, we will drive along the border of Bangladesh to reach Dawki. The Umgot River here has the cleanest waters (during post monsoon). Take a boat ride on the India – Bangladesh border. Overnight stay at hotel/camp at Shnongpdeng.
Day 5: Shnongpdeng – Krangshuri Waterfalls – Guwahati
Always keep the best on the last day, as much as possible. We spend leisurely time at Shnongpdeng in the morning. The place becomes extremely beautiful after 10 am when the sunlight is really bright. You can see the shadow of the boat almost 10 feet below water, a sight that you can never forget! After spending some time, we later move to Krangshuri Waterfalls, one of the picturesque waterfalls in the region. Our tour to Meghalaya comes to an end today, as we drive past Umium Lake again to go back to Guwahati (airport / railway station / hotel).
