Yes, Kaziranga National Park can be added to a Meghalaya trip, and it is a popular extension for travellers interested in wildlife alongside nature and hill experiences. Kaziranga is located in Assam and can be reached by road from Meghalaya, most commonly via Guwahati or Shillong.
To include Kaziranga comfortably, the itinerary usually needs to be extended by one additional days. This allows time for travel as well as at least one jeep safari inside the national park. Adding Kaziranga works best for travellers who are flexible with travel days and want to balance Meghalaya's waterfalls and landscapes with a wildlife experience.
If you'd like to include Kaziranga in your Meghalaya tour, we can help customise the route, safari planning, and overnight stays to ensure a smooth and well-paced journey.

To include the Kamakhya Temple visit comfortably, the tour needs to be extended by one additional day. This allows sufficient time for darshan and travel without rushing the Meghalaya itinerary. If you'd like to add Kamakhya to your tour, we can customise the plan accordingly.
Best Time to Take This Meghalaya Tour
Best time is from mid-October to April
If you want to see clear waters at Dawki, plan this tour December onwards
Avoid monsoon season for this tour i.e., May to September
Important Information
Except for Shillong, stay will be at homestays at all other places
There are very few good hotels / homestays in Meghalaya (even though it is a popular tourist destination)
Many hotels / homestays have very minimum options for breakfast. There will be no buffet breakfast. Homestay owners prepare as per need
It is better to book early to get a good accommodation. Budget options will always be available, they will be neat and clean but with very minimal services.
Please note that Dawki waters will be muddy during monsoon. If you are visiting Dawki by looking at internet photos, then you will be disappointed (though other places will be at their best during monsoon)
If you want a relaxed trek, you can spend one night at Nongriat Village. If chosen, your tour will get extended by a day
You can opt for stay at Shnongpdeng instead of Dawki. However, there are very basic homestays here and not much options to stay. If you are okay with camping by the river, then this is a perfect place to stay instead of Dawki.
If you want to visit Kamakhya Temple near Guwahati, then you need to extend your tour by one day. Please contact us for the same.
If you want to visit Kaziranga, you can extend your tour by one more day. Please contact us for the same.
