Itinerary of Diu and Saurashtra
Day 1: Ahmedabad – Morbi – Jamnagar
Welcome to Gujarat. Today, we will start our tour from Ahmedabad. We will visit the newly built Hanuman Statue at Morbi. Later, we will go to Jamnagar. In the evening, we will visit Ranmal Lake / Lakhota Lake, Palace, and Bala Hanuman Temple. Check-in to a hotel and relax.
Day 2: Jamnagar – Dwarka
After breakfast, we will drive to Dwarka and visit the historic Shri Dwarkadeesh temple, that is believed to be 2500 years old. Later we will spend some time at the banks of Gomti River, and stroll around till we reach the point where the river joins the sea. Later, spend some time at Dwaraka Beach and watch a beautiful sunset. We will then check-in to a hotel and relax.
Day 3: Dwarka
Today, we will go to various places of interest in Dwarka. We will start our day by visiting Rukmini Temple. Later, we will visit Nageshwar Mahadev temple. This is believed to be one of the 12 Jyothirling temples in India, however, some say it is not. After visiting the temple, we will go to Gopi Talav. Though this looks like a small pond, it has huge mythological significance. This is the meeting point of Lord Krishna and the Gopikas. Later, we will drive to Okha Ferry point where we take the ferry to visit Beyt Dwarka. The temple at Beyt Dwarka is one of the Char Dhams of India (others being at Badrinath, Puri and Rameshwaram). After spending enough time at Beyt Dwarka, we will take the ferry to Okha, and then drive to our hotel in Dwarka.
Day 4: Dwarka – Somnath
Today, we will leave Dwarka and drive towards Somnath. On the way, we will visit Porbandar, the birth place of Mahatma Gandhi. We will visit Gandhi Nivas, the house of Mahatma Gandhi, and Sudama Temple. In the evening, we will reach Somnath. We will visit Somnath Temple, and wait for the light and sound show that introduces the history of Somnath Temple to us. Later check-in to a hotel and relax.
Day 5: Somanth – Diu
Today we will visit Triveni Ghat and Pandava Caves at Somnath. Later proceed to the beautiful island of Diu. Spend the rest of the day exploring the various parts of Diu.
Day 6: Diu
We will explore the island of Diu today. Though the island is small, there are a lot of places to visit. We will start with a visit to Diu Fort, then go to the spectacular Naida Caves, St Paul Church, INS Khukri Memorial, Diu Museum, and Dinosaur Park. We will also visit Nagoa Beach, Ghoghla Beach (Blue Flag Beach) and Chakrathirth Beach. After an activity filled day, we will go back to hotel and relax.
Day 7: Diu – Sasan Gir
Today we will visit Triveni Ghat and Pandava Caves at Somnath. Later proceed to Sasan Gir, the home of Asiatic Lions. In the evening, we will go for a safari.
Day 8: Sasan Gir – Junagarh
In the morning, we will go for another round of Safari in the Gir forests. Later we will drive to Junagarh. We will visit Mahabat Maqbara which is a mausoleum built in 19th Century. After that, we will visit Uparkot Fort. In the evening, we will check in to a hotel and relax.
Day 9: Junagarh – Ahmedabad
Today is the last day of the tour, We will checkout from our hotel and drive to Ahmedabad. We will drop you to airport / railway station / hotel and this concludes our Diu and Saurashtra Tour.
