Itinerary of Nagaland and Manipur Tour

Day 1: Imphal – Zakhama / Viswema

Arrive at Imphal airport. Our representative will pick you up from airport and will transfer to Zakhama / Viswema. Check-in to a homestay and relax

Day 2: Zakhama / Viswema – Dzokou Valley

Today, we will start to a village called Viswema, and then drive along a muddy patch to reach the starting point of the trek to Dzukou Valley. The initial part of the trek is quite steep, and takes anywhere between 1-2 hours to reach the peak. We will have packed lunch at the peak, and then trek 5-6 km to reach canteen / dormitory. After admiring the beauty of the valley, we retire early for the day, as we have a long day tomorrow.

Day 3: Dzukou Valley – Zakhama / Viswema

We start our day early and trek to Dzukou Valley. Spend enough time at the valley before coming back to the dormitory. After exciting visit to Dzukou, we start our trek back. Later in the day, we drive back to Kohima. Check-in to hotel/homestay and relax.

Day 4: Kohima Sightseeing

No tour to Nagaland is complete without going for a village tour. The stories of Nagaland can be better heard from these iconic villages and the locals. We start our day by visiting the historic village of Khonoma. After visiting some of the interesting places in Khonoma, and going through the scenic rice fields, we will go back to Kohima to visit World War II memorial, state museum and a Cathedral.

Day 5: Zakhama / Viswema – Imphal

Today we will leave Nagaland, and drive to Imphal. Check-in to a hotel and relax. Later in the evening, visit Ima Market.

Day 6: Day Trip to Loktak Lake

Today we will visit the floating lake, Loktak Lake. You can go to the nearby park to get a view of the lake, and its floating islands. Later, you can go for boating and have lunch at the floating restaurant. In the evening, we will visit Keibul Lamjao National Park (if it is open – the park is closed due to COVID-19 restrictions) which is home to Sangai Deer. We will also visit INA museum (if it is open) before returning to Imphal.

Day 7: Day Trip to Moreh

Today we will first visit Khongjom War Memorial Complex. After that, we will visit Kakching Gardens from where  we will get a bird’s eye view of Manipur plains. We will later visit Langol Watch Tower to witness the panoramic views of Manipur. We will later dirve to the border town of Moreh that is located next to India-Myanmar border. You can visit the market here and shop for some soverigns. During pre-COVID-19 times, you could go to the neighbouring village in Myanmar and come back. However, the border is now closed. (If it opens up during your visit, we can step in to Myanmar too).

Day 8: Fly out of Imphal

Today, we will visit the war cemetery in Imphal. Later we will drop you to the airport as the tour of Nagaland and Manipur ends.

What to carry?

  • Address proof of every traveller (mandatory)
  • Face Masks (N95 or double masks), Hand sanitizer (mandatory)

  • Carry enough warm clothing as it will be freezing during winters (multiple layers of clothes, socks, gloves, caps etc)
  • Re-usable Water bottle. Avoid (buying) plastic water bottle

  • Dzukou Valley does not have electricity. Carry power banks if you want to charge your mobiles.
  • The trek path will be extremely muddy and slushy during rainy season. Carry extra clothing, socks, shoes accordingly.
