Kaziranga is an amazing destination for birdlife lovers as well. You can find numerous varieties of winged beauties here. Majuli is the largest river island in the world. Getting to Majuli itself is an experience where you have to cross the mighty Brahmaputra River is a ferry. Once in Majuli, you will be amazed to see this culturally rich island in addition its natural beauty.

Itinerary for Kaziranga and Majuli

Day 1: Guwahati – Kaziranga (250 km – 5 hours)

We start our trip today by driving to Kaziranga. Reach our hotel by evening, check-in and relax. Later in the evening, we will visit a small waterfall, and attend a cultural event that shows the rich tradition of Assam. Go back to hotel and retire for the day.

Day 2: Safari at Kaziranga

Today we start early to begin our day with Jeep Safari on the central zone. The central zone is the most popular zone in Kaziranga and there are possibilities of finding variety of animals here. The safari takes about two hours. We then return to hotel, freshen up, and go to another safari by afternoon. This time we explore the eastern zone. After a hectic day finding the wilds and birds, we get back to hotel and relax.

Day 3: Kaziranga and Majuli

We have to start early today. Though the journey from Kaziranga to Nimati Ghat is just 3 hours, we need to wait at the ghat for the next scheduled ferry that can take us to Majuli. The ferry rides takes about 1 hour to reach Majuli. We later drive to our homestay where we interact with the hosts, and learn more about this beautiful island.

Day 4: Majuli Sightseeing

Majuli is popular for its Satras (monasteries). There are a wide variety of Satras in Majuli, and it is an amazing experience to visit some of them. Some Satras are temples, while the others are cultural monasteries. We will take you to few popular Satras during the day. We will also pass by Mising Village, where you can see and meet people from the Mising tribe. Watch their activities like weaving, fishing etc., talk to them to know more about their way of living, and if invited, you can also take a look at their simple yet beautiful bamboo houses. Finally, you end the day by watching a beautiful sunset at the Brahmaputra Ghat.

Day 5: Majuli – Jorhat – Guwahati

Today we checkout early and take the first ferry to Nimati Ghat. Later, we continue our journey back to Guwahati, where we drop you to airport / railway station / ISBT / hotel.

Kaziranga and Majuli Tour

You can customise this tour as per your interests. If you want to take more safaris at Kaziranga, you can extend your stay for one more day (or even longer). Majuli is also a huge river island. It is not possible to visit all the satras in one single day. If you want to know more about this beautiful island, you can extend your stay here for one more day.
