Hampi

Hampi was the capital city of Vijayanagar kingdom and was the richest city of those times. From huge markets where traders used to do business, to some of the magnificent temples and monuments were built during these times. Some of the monuments and temples are in their ruins, however, exploring these structures can still leave you awestruck.

Tungabhadra Dam

Hampi is situated next to Tungabhadra River. A dam has been constructed near Hospet, about 20 km from Hampi. The astonishing view of the huge dam and the nearby gardens are a perfect place to spend an evening at.

Kishkinda Empire (now Anegundi)

The other side of the river has history that is a lot earlier than Vijayanagar kingdom. The places and incidents here dates back to Ramayana. From Anjanadri Hills, where Hanuman was born, to various hills where Lord Rama met Hanuman, Sugreeva Caves, Vali-Sugreeva Fighting place and many other stories will keep you on the tows to know more!

Chitradurga Fort

The fort at Chitradurga took 200+ years (11-13th century) to build by various rulers of those time. Its truly magnificent architecture from the ancient times, and the views from the top of the fort are the main attractions of Chitradurga Fort. You can also view several inscriptions, carvings and drawings from those times.

Badami, Pattadakal, Aihole

Badami was the capital of Chalukya dynasty, and the town has several structures dating back to 5th or 6th Century. The popular Badami Cave Temple is a temple complex that comprises of a set of cave temples carved out of a single huge rock. Pattadakal and Aihole also have temple complexes with stunning architectures from those pre-historic dates.

Kudalasangama

Kudalasangama is the place of confluence of two rivers: Krishna and Malaprabha. Malaprabha is the same river that flows at Pattadakal, few meters away from the temple complex.

Bijapur / Vijayapura

Vijayapura, earlier known as Bijapur, is a place that has numerous historical stories behind it. It was the then capital of Adil Shahi dynasty, and is home to several magnificent monuments and structures including the popular ‘Gol Gumbaz‘. From masjids to tombs to several other monuments with its stunning architecture will make stun you with its beauty.
