Bhutan Group Tour with Bumthang

Welcome to Bhutan! Our driver will receive you at Bagdogra Airport or NJP Railway Station and begin the scenic drive towards Phuentsholing, the gateway to the Kingdom of Bhutan. As the plains gradually give way to forested hills, the excitement of entering a new country begins to build.

After checking into the hotel, the evening is free to explore at your own pace. Take a stroll through the streets of Phuentsholing or cross over to Jaigaon on the Indian side and experience the unique atmosphere of these neighbouring border towns.

After completing the immigration formalities, we begin one of the most beautiful drives of the journey towards Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. The winding mountain roads, prayer flags fluttering in the breeze and ever-changing landscapes offer a perfect introduction to the country.

Along the way, we will stop at Gedu Town and the picturesque Wangkha Waterfalls before continuing towards Thimphu. By evening, arrive in Bhutan's capital and settle into your hotel.

Unlike most capitals around the world, Thimphu manages to balance modern comforts with deep-rooted traditions. The city offers a fascinating first glimpse into Bhutanese culture, architecture and everyday life.

Today is dedicated to discovering the cultural heart of Bhutan through the sights and experiences of Thimphu.

We begin at Buddha Dordenma, one of the largest Buddha statues in the world, overlooking the entire Thimphu Valley. The peaceful setting and panoramic views make it one of the most memorable landmarks in Bhutan.

Later, visit Simply Bhutan Museum, an interactive cultural museum where traditional Bhutanese customs, folk traditions and daily life come alive through engaging demonstrations and exhibits.

We will also visit the Takin Reserve, home to Bhutan's unique national animal. Hear the fascinating legends associated with the Takin while observing these unusual creatures up close.

To end the day, enjoy a short hike to Wangdi Tse, an offbeat viewpoint that rewards visitors with sweeping views of Thimphu Valley before spending the evening at leisure in town.

After breakfast, we leave Thimphu and head towards the beautiful Punakha Valley. The journey takes us across the famous Dochula Pass, one of Bhutan's most scenic mountain passes.

On clear days, the pass offers breathtaking views of the Himalayan range, while the iconic 108 chortens create one of the most photographed landscapes in Bhutan.

Descending into the warmer Punakha Valley, we visit Chimi Lhakhang, popularly known as the Fertility Temple. Set amidst fields and traditional villages, the temple remains one of Bhutan's most revered pilgrimage sites.

Later, explore the magnificent Punakha Dzong, considered by many to be the most beautiful dzong in Bhutan. Standing at the confluence of two rivers, the fortress-monastery showcases Bhutanese architecture at its finest.

We also take a walk to Bhutan's longest suspension bridge before retiring for the evening.

Today we journey deeper into the mountains towards Bumthang, a region often described as the cultural and spiritual heartland of Bhutan. The drive is long but incredibly rewarding, passing through changing landscapes, mountain passes, traditional villages and dense forests.

En route, we stop at the magnificent Trongsa Dzong, dramatically perched on a ridge overlooking the valley below. This historic fortress once controlled the important east-west trade routes of Bhutan and remains one of the country's most impressive architectural landmarks.

By evening, arrive in Bumthang and settle into your hotel. The atmosphere here feels noticeably different from western Bhutan, offering a quieter and more traditional glimpse into Bhutanese life.

Today is dedicated to exploring Bumthang, one of Bhutan's most sacred regions. Home to ancient monasteries, legends and important pilgrimage sites, Bumthang offers a deeper insight into the country's spiritual heritage.

Depending on the departure, you may also have the opportunity to witness local cultural festivals that bring the valleys of Bumthang alive with traditional masked dances, religious ceremonies and community celebrations.

Throughout the day, visit important landmarks including Kurjey Lhakhang, Jambay Lhakhang, Kenchosum Lhakhang, Jakar Dzong and the famous Swiss Farm. Each site tells a different story about Bhutan's history, culture and religious traditions.

Return to the hotel in the evening and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of Bhutan's cultural heartland.

After breakfast, we begin our journey back towards western Bhutan and the beautiful glacial valley of Phobjikha. The drive offers another opportunity to appreciate the dramatic landscapes of central Bhutan.

En route, we make a stop at Trongsa before continuing through mountain roads and forested valleys towards Phobjikha.

Arrive in the valley by evening and relax amidst one of Bhutan's most serene and picturesque landscapes.

Start the day by visiting the famous Gangtey Monastery, one of Bhutan's most important Nyingma monasteries, overlooking the vast Phobjikha Valley.

We will also enjoy the scenic Gangtey Nature Trail, a gentle walk through forests, open meadows and traditional villages that showcases the natural beauty of the valley.

Later, drive onwards to Paro. Check into the hotel and relax before the final highlight of the journey.

Today brings the highlight of the journey — a visit to Taktsang Lhakhang, better known as the legendary Tiger's Nest Monastery. Perched dramatically on a cliff nearly 900 metres above the Paro Valley, it is Bhutan's most iconic landmark and one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites in the country.

The name Taktsang translates to The Tiger's Nest. According to legend, Guru Rinpoche flew to this site on the back of a tigress and meditated here to subdue evil spirits. Since then, the monastery has become one of the most revered places in Bhutan.

The trek to the monastery takes you through beautiful pine forests draped with prayer flags and offers spectacular views of the valley below. The sense of achievement upon reaching the monastery is matched only by the breathtaking setting in which it stands.

No journey to Bhutan is complete without experiencing this remarkable spiritual and architectural wonder.

After an early breakfast, begin the return journey towards Bagdogra Airport or NJP Railway Station. The drive is long, so we recommend booking your onward flight or train after 4 PM.

As the mountains slowly give way to the plains, carry back memories of ancient monasteries, peaceful valleys, colourful traditions and the unique spirit of Bhutan.
