Description

Scaling the Skandagiri hill is a must if you are in Bangalore. Skandagiri trek starts at a small village called Kalavara Halli, about 70 km from Bangalore. The awesome trek goes through few muddy paths, and some boulder hopping to reach the summit in approximately 3 hours. The views of the surrounding hills, and the remnants of Tipu Sultan fort are the primary attractions of Skandagiri. Trek can be started very early in the day, to reach the peak by sunrise (permit required), or you can trek during the day light itself.

Skandagiri, also called as Kalavari Betta, is one of the five prominent hills in the region. The hill offers amazing views of the surroundings. It also has ruins of the fort built during the rule of Tipu Sultan. The summit also has a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Bhoga Nandeeshwara Temple

Bhoga Nandeeshwara Temple is recognised as the oldest temples in Karnataka and dates back to 9th Century. The intrinsic work on the pillars and the outer walls of the temple is stunning, especially because it was built during the times when none of the modern technology existed.
