One portion of the palace is converted into a museum where you can see the Darbar Hall, Kalyan Mantap (wedding hall), and the Royal Elephant Throne that is used during the Dussehra procession.

Chamundi Hills

Chamundi Hill is the main hill around the city of Mysore. A temple dedicated to Goddess Chamundeshwari is located on the top of the hill. St Philomena Church

This beautiful church is architecturally one of the finest churches in Karnataka. St Philomena Church is built in 1840s after drawing inspiration from one of the churches in Germany. It is the tallest church in Asia.

KRS Dam / Brundavan Gardens

Krishnaraja Sagar Dam is located on the outskirts of Mysore. The dam is the primary source of water for irrigation and drinking purposes in the region. Brundavan Gardens is located right next to KRS Dam. It took 5 years to design and construct the beautiful Brundavan Gardens and is the most popular place in Mysore. There are more than two million tourists every year to this awesome gardens. The musical fountain is the main attraction of Brundavan Gardens and is a perfect addition to an exciting evening.

Srirangapatna

The historic island town of Srirangapatna was the capital of Tipu Sultan kingdom. There are several structures and monuments from 18th Century in this beautiful town. A visit here will take you back to the bygone era. You can also find a lot of ruins from the years gone by.

Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary

Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary is located few kilometres away from Srirangapatna. This natural bird sanctuary is home to a lot of migratory birds, and a few crocodiles. A boat ride through the various river islands is a perfect way to get a closer look of the winged beauties.

Kaveri Nisargadhama

Kaveri Nisargadhama is a small island formed on River Kaveri in the Coorg or Kodagu district of Karnataka. The island also has several attractions for tourists. You can go on a boat ride, visit a mini zoo, elephant ride, laze around in the tree houses, click perfect pictures amidst bamboo plantations and many others.

Dubbare Elephant Camp

The elephant camp at Dubbare is the place where the elephants are prepared for the Dussehra Festival in Mysore. The camp has huge number of elephants, and has been open to public who are interested in knowing more about the elephants. Visitors can indulge in various activities like bathing the elephant, feeding food, and also go for a ride on elephant’s back. Abbey Falls

Bylakuppe Tibetan Monestry

Bylakuppe is a small village in Coorg, and has the largest settlement of Tibetans after McLeod Ganj in Himachal Pradesh. The monastery in Bylakuppe also has a Golden Temple which is a must visit if you are in Coorg.
