Description
Welcome to God’s Own Country – Kerala. Kerala is popular for its hill stations, beaches, backwaters and many other attractions. Tour to Kerala is almost in everyone’s bucket list. At Zikation, we provide you with all the information so that you can choose the itinerary you want at the budget you desire. If you want to discuss more, feel free to contact us.
How many days are required for Kerala Tour?
Well, you can spend anywhere between 5-10 days in Kerala. The more you spend time here, the more you will fall in love with the place. There are several options you can think of
- At a minimum, Kerala Tour would need 5 days (see our 4N/5D itinerary).
- If you want to cover all the important places of Kerala, it would need 7 days (see our 6N/7D itinerary).
- If you want a slightly leisure tour, or your flight/train arrival time is in the middle of the day, you can add one extra day.
- If you are touring Kerala from a far off place, then you can combine your Kerala tour with Lakshadweep (4 more days) or with Kanyakumari and Rameshwaram (3 more days)
There you go! There are a lot of options. So the number of days that are required to visit Kerala can be anywhere from 5 to 10 days.
How to reach Kerala?
By Air: Kerala has several airports. However, to the popular itineraries shown in the next few tabs, you can plan to arrive at Kochi. Departure can be from Kochi or Trivandrum airports, depending on your itinerary.
By Train: You can plan to arrive at Ernakulum Railway Station. Departure can be planned from either Ernakulum or Trivandrum depending on your itinerary.
By Bus: There are several overnight buses from Bangalore to Ernakulum / Kochi.
Should I include Houseboat in my tour?
This is a personal choice. However, Zikation strongly recommends that you include houseboat in your tour. This is the highlight of the tour, and offers a great experience to go through the various canals in the region. Please note that the houseboat experience is different than the one at Srinagar/Kashmir if you have visited. Houseboat stay is generally expensive, but is worth the experience. Other alternative but cheaper options are to stay at backwater resort or hotels and hire a boat or go for kayaking.
Why is Wayanad not included in the itinerary?
Wayanad is a district in the northern side of Kerala. It is a 12-14 hour drive from Kochi, and is quite far from the other popular places. While you can include it in your trip, you would be spending most of your time in travelling and hence the trip may become very hectic. Instead, if you want to visit Wayanad, you can combine it with Coorg (Karnataka) or Ooty (Tamil Nadu) or both, and that will be much more convenient.
Best Season to visit?
Kerala can be visited at any time of the year except during the monsoon (July-August). While monsoon has its own beauty to the region, the rains during monsoon are usually heavy and can affect your tour significantly. Summers are generally hot near the sea, but the hill stations are cooler!
